Business Process testing

Definition of business process testing

The testing of the full business process, from the start of a transaction through to the completion.

Commentary

Testing the full business process ensures that the system is really going to work. There are many examples of excellent software systems being implemented, where the supporting processes don’t work and undermine the effectiveness of the software.

Where the implementation of the system requires a lot of interaction between the business and the system(s) then a dress rehearsal is highly recommended.

Some organisations set up a model office to carry out business process testing. Others include it in end-to-end testing and user acceptance testing.
